Biography:  Jackie has been an information scientist for more than thirty years in the private, public and higher education sectors. She has worked in health for the past twenty years with a particular interest in growing the information and knowledge skills of NHS staff.

During a four year secondment as Head of Corporate Information Services for NHS Wales within the Welsh Assembly Government, she expanded and managed the Health of Wales Information Service, the NHS Wales Data Quality Programme and Education and Development in ICT Programme. She joined Informing Healthcare, the information and information technology modernisation programme for Wales at its initiation as a specialist advisor to various informatics projects. In June 2006 she was appointed as Head of Health Informatics Professional Development delivering a programme of activities to support individual, team and profession wide development of health informatics staff, in particular in the development and implementation of the Health Informatics Career Framework.
