Biography

Judie has used IT to support hospital pharmacists in their clinical role within the NHS for more than twenty years. This role is both system support & development with implementation at a varying number of London Hospital sites. In the last ten years, she has also taken on a national role as the lead for auto-ID within the hospital pharmacy procurement setting. This has included work showing the importance of GS1 coding, leading to support of the NHS Dictionary of Medicines and Devices (NHS dm+d), to facilitate robotic dispensing systems, initiating an eProcurement solution for pharmaceutical hospital medicines and an understanding of current pharmacy solutions for stock control and labelling and their integration requirements into ePrescribing.  She is also involved in a working group to deliver an eEnablement Strategy for the NHS.

Working both within the NHS and the Department of Health has provided Judie with a clear understanding of the issues seen by the NHS at the point of care. She can use this knowledge to devise ways of support for hospital pharmacists in their clinical roles within the areas of decision-support, procurement etc. and so streamline process and maximise resources available.
