Ken Bloomfield

Elected to Council:  2007

Constituency:  Health Informatics – ETD

Industry Sector:  Primary Care

Employing Organisation:  PRIMIS+

Job Title:  Head of Training and Support Delivery

Biography:

After leaving the forces in 1995 after 25 years service, Ken had a brief but successful period as a Practice Manager, Fundholding and Practice Manager and subsequently Business Manager in Primary Care. During this time he also achieved a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Service Management with the University of Wales College of Medicine and became an NVQ Advisor/Assessor.

He then decided that he wanted a more challenging role while still working with Primary Care and became a PRIMIS+ Information Facilitator for South Gloucestershire PCT. In September 2002 he was appointed as a PRIMIS Learning Consultant for the Southern Region. In this sometimes challenging, always interesting role, he thoroughly enjoyed supporting Information Facilitators, Practices and PCTs to achieve a higher standard of data quality and better understanding of Information Management. In November 2005 he was appointed as Senior Learning Consultant. This role has subsequently developed and Ken became Head of ETD for PRIMIS+ in 2006.

In late 2009 it was recognised that this role was becoming too large for one person to manage and was split into separate roles, Head of Training Development and Head of Training and Support Delivery, the latter of which Ken has retained.
