Pre-registration Scheme

A Pre-registration Scheme has been developed for those individuals who do not yet meet the minimum requirements for entry to the UKCHIP register (at any level) but are working towards registration and wish to demonstrate their commitment to employers or potential employers.

Who Can Join the Scheme?

The Pre-registration Scheme is for those who are just commencing a career in Health Informatics.  They may be students, trainees or those just moving into Health Informatics who have not yet gained the requisite experience for the relevant level of registration.  They should either be working in or aspiring to work in Health Informatics or studying a relevant qualification.

How to join the Scheme

• Forward your CV to the Registrar, along with details of how you intend to progress towards meeting the full registration requirements.
• Ways of working towards registration could include; working in health informatics, training and experience at work, full time study, short training courses, attendance at conferences and meetings, personal study and research.
• The typical requirements for full registration are below, but individual cases can be considered by the UKCHIP Assessment Panel.

Terms of the Scheme

• Once an applicant has applied and been accepted onto the scheme, they can remain on it for up to four years, without having to make a renewal application
• Pre-registrants must sign up to the UKCHIP Code of Conduct and agree to abide by the rules of the Council
• At any time, when they meet the criteria for registration, pre-registrants can apply for full registration

Fee

It costs £20 to join the pre-registration scheme.  This is a one-off fee regardless for up to four years on the pre-registration list.
