Registration Renewal

Introduction

Registration with UKCHIP lasts for 12 months.   Registrants should renew their registration by the anniversary of their initial registration so that it runs continuously from the renewal date for a further year.

Method of Renewal

Registrants renew by completing the online renewal form and paying the renewal fee. In completing the renewal form, registrants are required to provide up to date contact and personal details, to review their personal CPD plan for the year that has elapsed and to provide a CPD plan for the coming year.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

At renewal, registrants are required to provide a CPD plan for the coming year. This should include at least 40 hours of development relating to health informatics and follow the current guidelines set out by the Education Committee (CPD).

Renewal Reminders

A renewal notice will be sent to registrants four weeks before the renewal is due. This will be followed by reminders at two weeks, on the renewal date itself and at two weeks after the date if registration has not been renewed.

Initial reminders will be via email but the registrant will be contacted in writing via their home address when they have not renewed by the renewal date. If an individual’s registration lapses they will be sent notification at the time. They will then be sent monthly reminders to encourage re-registration before the six month deadline (as described below).

Lapsed Registration

An individual’s registration will be considered to be lapsed if renewal is not made by four weeks after the renewal was due. At this time the applicant will no longer be considered a registrant of UKCHIP.  A notice to this effect will be sent to the registrant and the registrant’s details removed from the UKCHIP Public Register.

If an individual’s registration lapses and they wish to reinstate it within six months of the renewal date, they will be able to do this by completing the standard renewal form and paying the full annual fee. Their registration will be reinstated, commencing from the original renewal date.

Beyond six months after the renewal date, the individual will be required to re-apply for registration by completing a full registration form and paying the full registration fee.  The application will be assessed using the same procedure as an initial application and sponsor agreement will be required. The registration will then commence from the date that it is approved.

Applying for Re-grading

A registrant can apply for re-grading of their registration level at the time of renewal, by completing the renewal form and making an re-grading application. The re-grading application will be considered by a UKCHIP assessor, in line with the policy for initial assessment.

Extenuating Circumstances

UKCHIP may waive these procedures in the case of an registrant with extenuating circumstances not completing their renewal on time.  Such cases will be dealt with on an individual basis.
