Elected to Council:  2007

Constituency:   ICT

Industry Sector:  Higher Education

Employing Organisation:   Swansea University

Job Title:   Lecturer in Health Informatics

Biography:  Tony qualified as both a mental health and general nurse in the early 1980's.  His interest in computers followed soon after, and led to some early forays into what we now call health informatics in a clinical setting.  He became a nurse lecturer in 1987 and read for his Bachelor and Masters degrees in nursing.   His interest in health informatics developed further through participation, first as a student and later as one of the organisers of the European Summer School of Nursing Informatics through the 1990's, where he was able to network with many of the early ‘movers and shakers' in health informatics.

He is now a lecturer in health informatics, mainly for the MSc in health informatics at Swansea University; a successful course with multi-disciplinary interest. He is a member of the health informatics professional development steering group at Informing Healthcare (NHS Wales).
